From the Henssler Financial Studios this is your news minute on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast presented by Engineered Solutions of Georgia. Today is Monday July 10th, and I'm Brian Giffin.
A bill that aims to create an official state definition of antisemitism in Georgia has gained renewed attention following a recent antisemitic incident at a synagogue in east Cobb. The bill, co-sponsored by Representatives John Carson and Esther Panitch, seeks to address the rising incidents of antisemitism in the state. The legislation, known as House Bill 30, incorporates the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism, emphasizing that it does not infringe upon freedom of speech. However, concerns have been raised about potential unintended consequences and vague legal definitions. The bill previously passed in the Georgia House but did not progress in the Senate. Supporters hope that the recent antisemitic display will encourage lawmakers to reconsider their positions and support the bill's passage....we'll see. For more on this, visit mdjonline.com.
