STORY 1: Atlanta Falcons Fire Head Coach Arthur Smith
The Atlanta Falcons have fired head coach Arthur Smith following a 48-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints, concluding their 2023 season. Smith, who took over the position in 2021, led the team for three seasons, finishing with a 21-30 overall record. Falcons owner Arthur Blank expressed respect for Smith's contributions to team culture but stated that on-field results fell short of expectations. The search for a new head coach will commence immediately, led by Blank, CEO Rich McKay, and general manager Terry Fontenot, with no set timetable for the hiring decision.
STORY 2: What Is Cyclocross? This Gwinnett Teen Is Among The Nation's Best
Matthew Crabbe, a 14-year-old Buford High freshman, has clinched his third consecutive USA Cycling Cyclocross national title. The cyclocross season typically runs from September to December, and Crabbe's achievements in the sport involve navigating grass fields with elevation changes and various surfaces like mud and sand. Despite its technical nature, Crabbe appreciates the supportive and encouraging community in cyclocross racing. During the offseason, he engages in traditional road races. Crabbe, who broke his wrist in a spring criterium, finds cyclocross less dangerous than road races and values the combination of technical skills and physical strength required in the sport.
STORY 3: Legislation to be Filed to Create City of Mulberry in Eastern Gwinnett
Georgia House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration and state Sen. Clint Dixon released proposed legislation for the creation of a new city in Gwinnett County, to be named Mulberry. The cityhood bill, set for filing, aims to address local control over planning and zoning. The proposed city, Gwinnett's second-largest if approved, would be located near Little Mulberry Park, have around 41,000 residents, and offer services such as planning and zoning, stormwater management, and code enforcement. The feasibility study indicates Mulberry's financial viability without a city property tax, relying on various fees and projecting a surplus. The city would be governed by a five-member council.

STORY 4: Study debunks eating disorder myths
A new study challenges the myth that only "posh skinny white girls" develop eating disorders, emphasizing that everyone, irrespective of race, gender, or age, can be affected. Eating disorder experts stress the harmful impact of stereotypes and urge clinicians to treat all eating disorders seriously, even those not involving weight loss, such as purging. The guide "Eating Disorders: The Basics" aims to dispel myths, covering risk factors, types of disorders, latest treatments, and offering advice for families. The authors emphasize the need for recognition and support for various affected groups, including men, racial minorities, transgender individuals, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
STORY 5: Is it harder to commit to a fitness routine than a partner?
A survey of 2,000 Americans who work out at least once a week reveals that one in five find it harder to commit to a fitness routine than to a partner. Over the last decade, respondents tried about five different workout regimens and had four different serious partners. More than two-thirds (68%) are likely to stick with a workout routine simply because it's comfortable, mirroring the tendency to stay in the wrong relationship for the same reason (53%). The survey explores the concept of a "perfect match," with 66% defining it as something or someone helping them reach their goals, and 35% believing working out with a partner would help achieve fitness goals.
