Listen to the Episode

Show Notes

Join host Keith Ippolito as he engages in an insightful conversation with Angie Clawson, the Director of Communications at The Salvation Army. This episode focuses on a vital initiative, the 41st Can-A-Thon, a heartwarming food drive benefitting The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta, proudly supported by 11Alive and Publix.

Angie delves into the stark reality of food insecurity, emphasizing that 1 in 10 individuals in Metro Atlanta faces uncertainty about their next meal. Together with 11Alive, The Salvation Army aims to re-stock its 13 food pantries to bring hope and support to those struggling in our communities.

Listeners will discover the tangible ways they can make a difference by contributing nonperishable food items. With drop-off locations conveniently situated across Metro Atlanta, individuals can bring their donations to Publix Shamrock Plaza in Decatur, Salvation Army centers in Lawrenceville, Marietta, and the Kroc Center in Fulton until Friday, December 1.

Recognizing that hunger doesn't take a holiday, Angie highlights continued opportunities to combat food insecurity beyond the drop-off event. Donors can participate virtually until December 31, whether through financial contributions on the website, fulfilling items on the Amazon Wishlist, or by volunteering to make an impactful difference.

For more information on how to get involved, make a donation, or find the most needed items, listeners are encouraged to visit 11alive.com/canathon.

Tune in to this episode to discover how each donation and act of kindness contributes to bringing hope and relief to thousands facing food insecurity in our community.
