Canton Man Sentenced to 20 Years of Prison for Child Sexual Abuse
A Canton man, Jonathan Ricky Millwood, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison following his guilty plea for aggravated sexual battery and child molestation. The case started when a girl under 10 years old revealed to her mother that Millwood had touched her inappropriately. After a series of forensic interviews and a Sexual Assault Nurse Exam, male DNA was confirmed on the child, leading to Millwood's conviction. The victim's mother expressed relief that her daughter would be spared from the further trauma of testifying in court. Millwood will serve his sentence without a chance for parole, followed by life on probation. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and is prohibited from contacting the victim or her family. As stated by District Attorney Susan Treadaway, while no sentence can heal the trauma endured by the child, it's hoped that this verdict will provide some closure and allow the start of the healing process.
