From the Ingles Studio this is your news minute on the Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast presented by Engineered Solutions of Georgia. Today is Thursday August 10th, and I'm Brian GiffinTroy Dean Hickman, a 59-year-old man from Canton, Georgia, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult. The charges stemmed from his repeated sexual abuse of a young woman with intellectual disabilities, which began when she was around 18 years old. The victim bravely disclosed the abuse to a friend, leading to an investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. In a negotiated plea deal, Hickman was sentenced to prison followed by probation, with strict conditions including no contact with the victim or her family, psycho-sexual evaluation, substance abuse treatment, and adherence to sex offender special conditions.
