Cherokee County Commissioner Benny Carter and State Rep. Jordan Ridley conducted a town hall meeting focusing on county and state issues. Key topics included infrastructure, such as the ongoing widening of Highway 20 and the delayed improvements to Highway 140. Plans for the expansion of Bluffs Parkway and the revival of Bells Ferry Road widening were discussed. A joint plan with cities was highlighted to develop the I-575 and Sixes Road Interchange Area. Property tax assessment and exemptions were explained, with potential changes in senior tax exemptions. Opportunities to reduce property tax rates through sales taxes like HOST, LOST, or T-SPLOST were considered.
