Cherokee High School is set to get a new campus by 2026, as the Cherokee County School Board has approved a $179 million contract with Carroll Daniel Construction. The contract is the largest ever awarded by the district for a high school. Despite the cost per square foot being in line with market rates, the final price is higher due to rising material and labor costs, as well as the school's size.
The new campus will span 473,761 square feet and accommodate 3,000 students, surpassing the current enrollment of 2,800. It will include 152 classrooms, a 1,000-seat auditorium, and a 4,500-seat football stadium. Importantly, there are no plans to change the attendance boundaries, meaning all students will move to the new school upon its completion.
