CCSD Improves Average AP Score With More Participation
The Cherokee County School District has seen a slight improvement in its overall Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores, with high school students averaging 3.4, up from 3.3 the previous year. The number of students taking AP exams also increased, with 6,091 exams taken, up from 5,534. A score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can earn college credit at many state colleges and universities, potentially saving students and their families an estimated $4.6 million in tuition. The district offers 33 different AP courses. Several CCSD schools earned international recognition for their participation and performance in AP exams, with Woodstock High School achieving the Silver level and Creekview, Etowah, and Sequoyah High Schools earning Bronze level awards. Etowah also received the AP Access Award for its commitment to providing advanced coursework to all students.
