From the Ingles Studios this is your news minute on the Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast presented by Dayco Systems. Today is Wednesday July the12th and I'm Brian GiffinThe Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has reopened sections of the Chattahoochee River that were previously closed due to elevated E. Coli contamination. The closure was a result of an issue at the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The river is now open from Powers Island to downstream sections, as water quality monitoring has indicated safe bacteria levels that meet the criteria recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency for water recreation. However, the river remains closed from Chattahoochee Nature Center to Powers Island. The park, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, and Fulton County Public Works are actively monitoring water quality and ensuring that wastewater treatment meets environmental requirements. Visitors are advised to wear life vests and check flow rates, weather forecasts, and bacteria levels before entering the water. Further updates and information can be found on the park's website.
