Cherokee County man charged with wife's murder

Today is Wednesday July 26th, and I'm Brian Giffin.A man named Charles "Terry" Collins, 70, from Cherokee County, has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting his wife, Deborah Collins, 63, at their home. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 24, and law enforcement officers responded to a person shot call at the residence. When they arrived, the suspect confronted them at the front door with a firearm. Despite repeated demands to drop the weapon, he retreated back inside and was later apprehended when he emerged from the back door. Charles Collins is now facing charges of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault – family violence, and aggravated battery - family violence. The motive behind the shooting has not been determined yet, and the investigation is still ongoing. The suspect had not previously been arrested by the sheriff's office, and the case is being closely examined by authorities.
