Cherokee County Man Indicted on Murder Charges in Wife's Death
Charles Terry Collins, a 70-year-old man, has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, Deborah Collins, aged 63, this summer. The indictment, filed on October 9, includes charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault family violence, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Charles Collins is accused of shooting his wife in the throat and neck. The incident occurred on July 24, and he was arrested after a standoff with responding deputies. Despite no prior arrests by the sheriff's office, deputies had been called to the couple's home previously. Charles Collins is currently in Cherokee County jail without bond, with a court appearance scheduled for November 7. It's important to note that an indictment represents formal charges, and defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
