Cherokee County firefighters are investigating a house fire that occurred on Hogan Pond Lane near Ball Ground. The fire completely destroyed the home, but fortunately, there were no occupants inside, and no injuries were reported. The fire was reported by neighbors at 7:52 a.m. Firefighters from multiple stations responded to the scene and found the single-story home fully engulfed in flames. They conducted a search of the premises and used hose lines to extinguish the fire, which was causing smoke and fire to emerge through the roof and other openings. Hogan Pond Lane had to be temporarily closed as firefighters worked, due to the fire hydrant's location across the road from the home. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
