STORY 4: Former Trump Lawyer Pleads Guilty in Georgia Election Subversion Case
Attorney Kenneth Chesebro has pleaded guilty in Fulton County Superior Court to participating in an attempt to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results. Chesebro confessed to working with then-President Donald Trump to recruit Georgia Republicans as "fake" electors who falsely asserted Trump's victory in Georgia. He pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. Under the plea agreement, he will serve five years of probation, pay $5,000 in restitution, complete 100 hours of community service, write an apology letter to Georgia citizens, and testify truthfully at future court hearings. Sidney Powell, another former lawyer for the Trump campaign, pleaded guilty to related charges earlier. A 41-count indictment charges Trump and 18 co-defendants under Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act with conspiring to overturn election results.
