Georgia Economy Headed for ‘Soft Landing’ in 2024
The economic growth we experienced this year is expected to slow down in 2024 but not enough to cause a recession, says Ben Ayers, the dean of Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He anticipates our Gross Domestic Product will increase by 1.1% next year, a decrease from this year's 3% growth but still outperforming the predicted sluggish national growth rate of 0.8%. Job growth in Georgia is also expected to rise by 0.7%, slower than this year's 2.3% gain but still higher than the projected national job growth of just 0.3%. Despite the slowdown, Georgia remains well-positioned to weather any economic turbulence.
