Gas prices in Georgia are approaching some of the lowest levels in the past 12 months as Christmas approaches. The Georgia gas tax, around 31 cents a gallon, is back in place after being suspended for several months by Governor Brian Kemp. Local prices as of Monday morning ranged from $2.69 to $2.75 per gallon in various counties. The state average was $2.96, which is 7 cents less than a week ago, 12 cents more than a month ago, and 17 cents more than the same time last year. AAA forecasts a continued downward trend in gas prices, with the national average likely to slide below $3 per gallon by the end of the year.
