STORY 4: Ga. High Court Upholds Polk Co. Man's Murder Conviction
The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld Roe Dale Bowman's murder conviction and life sentence for killing his ex-girlfriend, Tammy Wolfe, in 2017. Bowman, convicted in 2020, was sentenced to life plus five years. He appealed, arguing errors in admitting evidence of past violence and ineffective legal representation. The evidence included Wolfe's body found with her driver's side window down, shot and stabbed, and blood letters "R" and "O" on her windshield. The court rejected his claims, maintaining the conviction based on substantial evidence of abusive behavior leading to the murder.
STORY 5: Ga. House Study Committee On Navigable Streams To Meet Thursday
The Georgia House Study Committee on Navigable Streams will hold its first meeting on Thursday to explore public rights on the state's streams and rivers. Formed in response to the controversial HB 1397, the committee will investigate the status of various waterways and their accessibility for boating, fishing, and hunting. The current definition of "navigable" dates back to 1863 and affects property rights along streams. The committee aims to address concerns from property owners and river user groups and will recommend legislation for the 2025 session. The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in Atlanta and livestreamed at Legis.Ga.Gov.
