STORY 2: Lawrenceville man accused of operating meth lab in mobile home

Martin Guzman-Beltran, a 39-year-old Lawrenceville resident, was arrested for operating a meth lab out of his mobile home. Local and federal law enforcement, including the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, DEA, and Homeland Security, executed a search warrant on Nov. 26, discovering 72 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2 kilograms of heroin, 256 grams of fentanyl, $61,000 in cash, and four illegal firearms. Guzman-Beltran faces charges of trafficking meth and heroin, manufacturing meth, weapons possession, and possession of drug-related objects. Authorities also found meth in various stages of production, along with lab equipment and weapons. The bust highlights the Sheriff’s Office's effort to combat drug cartels and protect Gwinnett County residents.

STORY 3: A Different Path: Georgia Gwinnett College Graduate Blazes Her Own Trail

Mikiah Miller's dream of joining the U.S. Navy was cut short when health issues forced a medical discharge during boot camp. Determined to find a new path, she moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia, where she enrolled in Georgia Gwinnett College’s IT program, encouraged by her father, a retired Navy officer. At GGC, she embraced campus life, gained hands-on experience working at the IT help desk, and developed a passion for technology. Her achievements included joining the honors program, interning at Hebron Christian Academy and Cox Enterprises, and leading as president of Women in Technology, earning a $15,000 scholarship. Miller now aims to work in IT for local or federal government and eventually become an IT professor, demonstrating resilience and leadership throughout her journey.
