  1. last

Harrison William Floyd, the final member of the Fulton 19 charged in the 2020 election racketeering case, has secured a $100,000 bond for release from jail. He's accused of pressuring an election worker to admit voting fraud. Floyd, a former Marine and Black Voices for Trump director, faces charges of racketeering, conspiracy, and influencing a witness. He's part of a group of 18 defendants, including former President Donald Trump, facing charges related to attempting to overturn the 2020 election. Floyd's bond lets him post $10,000 ahead of a bond hearing. Other defendants negotiated varying bond amounts. Trump's was $200,000, and associates had $100,000 bonds.

  1. auto

Automotive components manufacturer Daesol Ausys plans to invest $72 million in a new manufacturing facility in West Point, Harris County. The facility, set to begin operations in December 2024, will create over 140 jobs and focus on producing vehicle accessories like luggage boards and covers. Daesol Ausys supplies Kia Georgia, Hyundai Motor Group, and General Motors. The company's collaboration with Georgia Quick Start for workforce training development indicates an active project. While details of state-offered tax incentives are undisclosed, officials express excitement about Daesol Ausys joining the automotive industry in Harris County, contributing to Georgia's growing automotive sector.

  1. vogtle

Georgia Power has reached an agreement with the state's Public Service Commission's Public Interest Advocacy staff regarding the costs of constructing Plant Vogtle's Units 3 and 4. These units represent the country's first newly built nuclear units in over 30 years. The deal sets a cap of over $7.5 billion on the recovery costs for this construction project. As a result, average retail rates may rise by around 5%. For a typical resident using 1,000 kWh monthly, their bill could go up by $8.95 to accommodate these increased rates..........……we’ll be right back…

  1. homes

Rising home prices and a 7.23% 30-year fixed mortgage rate are impacting Georgia's homeownership outlook. Using Zillow data, Stacker ranked Georgia's costliest cities based on location, size, age, and condition. The Atlanta-Sandy Springs Alpharetta metro area tops with 21 cities in the top 30, followed by 3 cities in Savannah, 2 in Brunswick, and 1 in Athens-Clarke County. These trends shed light on the real estate dynamics in these regions. Limited inventory and increased demand only serve to raise these costs more.

  1. district

Next week in Atlanta, a federal trial will commence concerning Georgia's state legislative district maps. Initiated in 2021, this legal action involves numerous Georgia residents and entities such as the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Sixth District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Their lawsuit targets Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, alleging that the legislative maps devised in 2021 breach Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, citing violations in voting rights.
