STORY 1:   Local Music Group Featured on Madden 25 Video Game Soundtrack

Madden 25, released on August 16, features a track by Calhoun-based band Omni !, adding local flair to the highly anticipated game. The band, consisting of Jordan Steele, David Butler, Jaime Olivares, and Brody Gillean, formed while studying at Gordon County College and Career Academy. After their song "NERD" was featured in MLB The Show, their track "Missy" now graces the Madden 25 soundtrack. Omni !, known for their alternative and hip-hop blend, joins big names like Doja Cat and Green Day on the game’s playlist. They’re also working on a new album and have a fall show scheduled at The Forum in Rome.

STORY 2: Trial Set For Armuchee Man Accused Of Killing His Grandmother

Robert Keith Tincher III, 31, will stand trial on January 27, 2025, for the murder of his 82-year-old grandmother, Doris Cumming. Tincher is accused of killing Cumming in late 2021, placing her body in a freezer, and later moving it to a storage unit. A mental evaluation has delayed the trial. Tincher allegedly forced Cumming into plastic bags, breaking her bones in the process, and later told police she was still breathing when he locked the freezer. He faces charges of felony malice murder, concealing death, aggravated battery, and felony murder.

STORY 3:  Students Recreate Goat Man's Wagon

Students at Floyd County College and Career Academy in Rome, GA, partnered with Fairbanks to recreate the historic "Goat Man" wagon, once used by Charles “Ches” McCartney. The project, starting in October 2023, involved engineering students designing the wagon and welding students constructing it. Film students documented the process for a documentary. Completed in August, the wagon will be displayed at the Rome Area History Center from February to May 2025. The project provided hands-on experience for students and aimed to honor McCartney’s legacy while showcasing the history of Fairbanks.
