From the Ingles Studios this is your news minute on the Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast presented by Dayco Systems. Today is Friday July 21st, and I'm Brian Giffin
Charles Flagg, a Cherokee County man, was sentenced to three to four months in prison and nearly 15 years of probation after pleading guilty to five counts of child sexual exploitation. He was found in possession of sexually explicit videos of minors on his phone and had uploaded explicit videos of teenagers to a messaging app. Prosecutors sought a 20-year sentence with a minimum of 5 years in prison, but Flagg opted for a non-negotiated plea, resulting in the 15-year probation sentence. The court considered his counseling progress, remorse, lack of criminal history, and compliance while on bond. Flagg will be a registered sex offender and subject to strict supervision, community service, and no contact with minors during probation.
