Story 1: Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Missing Woman’s Murder
Joseph Leroy Jones, convicted last month for the murder of his wife Monisha Leath, was sentenced to life without parole by Polk County Superior Court Judge Andrew Roper. Despite Leath's body not being found, the sentencing brought some relief to her family and friends. During the hearing, Judge Roper emphasized the value of Leath's life and the void her absence has left. Leath's family, including her mother Kawanna Leath, urged the judge to hand down the maximum sentence and demanded answers about her whereabouts, to which Jones remained silent. While the sentencing provides closure in the eyes of the law, the uncertainty of not knowing Monisha Leath's whereabouts adds to the family's grief. Jones, previously on probation for armed robbery, was convicted of murdering Leath after a domestic altercation in February 2022. Despite efforts to evade capture, he was arrested in South Carolina. The jury found Jones guilty of felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault.
Story 2: Mom Accused of Stealing $100,000 from Acworth Softball Team
accused of embezzling over $100,000 during her three-year tenure. Foster allegedly used the organization's funds for personal expenses, exploiting her position of trust. The theft was discovered when a check for batting cages bounced, revealing a negative balance. Foster confessed to the embezzlement after initially blaming her husband. The organization, which suffered financial setbacks, has implemented stricter controls and procedures to prevent future incidents. Foster faces felony theft charges, highlighting the importance of vigilance and accountability in nonprofit organizations.
Story 3: CSO: Suspect Arrested in Hit and Run That Seriously Injured Elderly Man
William James Abbott, 20, from Acworth, was arrested by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office for allegedly striking a bicyclist with his vehicle and causing life-threatening injuries. He faces charges including hit and run resulting in serious injury, tampering with evidence, and holding a wireless device while driving. The incident occurred on March 3, when witnesses saw a silver or gray Nissan hit the cyclist on Towne Lake Parkway and continue driving. Deputies found the victim, a 78-year-old man from Woodstock, unresponsive but breathing. Abbott was located with a damaged vehicle nearby and was arrested. The victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Story 4: Lawyer accusing Fulton DA of conflict details accusations of misconduct at Georgia Senate hearing
Ashleigh Merchant, attorney for Michael Roman, testified before a Senate committee regarding her motion to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from a case involving Trump's alleged election interference. Merchant claimed to uncover an affair between Willis and a special prosecutor. She detailed the alleged conflict of interest and financial misconduct, including unreported gifts. Merchant's testimony raised questions about the prosecutors' integrity. However, Democratic Sen. Harold Jones challenged Merchant's claims, questioning their relevance to the case. Despite the scrutiny, Willis affirmed her commitment to pursuing the case against Trump and his allies.

The unit underwent extensive training at Fort Stewart and Fort Cavasos, Texas, before completing three additional weeks of training in Germany. Now deployed in Kosovo, they are tasked with supporting the NATO-led Kosovo Force. The squadron, part of the Georgia Army National Guard’s 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, comprises soldiers from various armories in Georgia. Hygiene practices, including mask-wearing and handwashing, are recommended for the next five days. Special considerations are advised for vulnerable groups.
