A bouncer at a sports bar in downtown Woodstock was arrested in the early hours of New Year’s Day after police say he put a woman in a chokehold while removing her from the bar.
Warren Smith, 37, from Marietta, is charged with aggravated assault by strangulation and battery, according to his arrest warrant by the Woodstock Police Department.
In the warrant, police say Smith was a bouncer at The Daily Draft, where two women were refusing to leave the bar, and another bouncer contacted Smith to help remove them from the business. According to the warrant, one of the women grabbed the other bouncer by the neck, and swung her arms at both of them, then Smith wrapped his forearm around her neck and choked her until she was unconscious. Police reported Smith dragged the unconscious woman by her neck and dropped her onto a back porch, where her face hit a chair leg.
