Cherokee County's penny sales tax appeared to be getting a six-year extension with approval of a majority of voters Tuesday, preliminary election results from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office show.
With 95% of precincts reporting as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, 68.99% of Cherokee County voters had voted “yes” for the extension of the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
With the SPLOST, Cherokee County’s total sales tax is 6%, among the lowest in the state.
