Volunteers with the American Legion Post 45, Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program and Georgia Pest Control Association’s PestVets helped transfer over 5,000 coats to the American Legion building in Canton Dec. 16 to distribute to those in need this winter.
Coats were collected during PestVets' second annual statewide coat drive for homeless veterans.
The coats will be distributed to a number of organizations, including Veterans Affairs, the Georgia National Guard and various nonprofits, as well as families and individuals in need throughout Cherokee and Georgia.
Last year, the drive collected an estimated 3,500 coats.
