Etowah made school history on Wednesday, beating St. Pius X 54-53 in the final seconds and advancing to the Class AAAAAA Final Four.
The quarterfinals game was tied 53-53 with 10 seconds left after Aiden Portee connected on a mid-range jumper for the Golden Lions, but Brandon Rechsteiner took matters into his own hands, driving coast-to-coast and drawing a foul with 2.9 seconds remaining.
Rechsteiner split the pair of free throws, and after forcing a St. Pius X turnover, Etowah inbounded the ball and ran out the clock.
