South Cherokee County and other parts of metro Atlanta are under a flash flood warning until noon Wednesday, the National Weather Service announced.
"At 555 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in and around the Atlanta Metro area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen," the NWS said in a weather report. "Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly."
According to the NWS, locally heavy rainfall this morning and afternoon could lead to flash flooding and river flooding concerns.
