North Georgia Health District on new COVID boosters: "It's important to get it"
The North Georgia Health District is recommending COVID-19 booster shots, recently approved by the FDA, to target the subvariant of the omicron variant. These boosters are available for anyone aged 5 and older, regardless of previous vaccination. Children aged 6 months through 4 years are also eligible for updated mRNA COVID vaccines. The FDA has approved an updated Novavax COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12 years and older who have previously been vaccinated. The vaccines are free for most adults in the U.S. through insurance. The CDC predicts a moderate COVID wave for the fall and winter, and health officials emphasize the importance of vaccination to prevent infection and slow the virus's spread.
