An update on the case of Brianna Long, the Paulding County High School graduate tragically killed three months ago.

Long lost her life to a stray bullet while closing The Pier bar in Remerton on October 29th.

The GBI reports the gunfire stemmed from an altercation outside the bar.

Despite a $25,000 reward offered by a concerned citizen, investigators say no arrests have been made, and the case remains open.

Valdosta State plans to honor her posthumously with a degree.

Anonymous tips can be submitted at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) or online.

In a developing story, Tyler Canaris, the man body-slammed by a Paulding County sheriff's deputy in a 2022 incident caught on dashcam, has filed a federal lawsuit.

Allegations include civil rights violations and seek damages for physical and mental suffering.

The deputy involved was terminated.

Misty Childs Harris

They are teaching cops to see us as animals. Cruelty is the point. Supreme Court stated the police are here to protect property not its citizens. Only money and things matter in America, people are just expendable and just in the way, treat them as such.

Patricia McCants

But police do this all the time, why is this case still drawing interest?

Katie Ryn

  1. This is why we don't need a cop city. Police officers don't need to be trained in new ways to terrorize citizens. They need de-escalation courses and anger management.

What distinguishes Paulding County? Advantages of residing in Paulding County?

Laurie Penney

When my son was in hospital my wonderful neighbors took care of my lawn, my home, and my animals for 2 months. The rest of the community rallied around with prayer and food.

Tamara Nova

I like that there is open space in the county. I enjoy my drive past local farms and livestock on my way to work everyday. I like the convenience of 278 and most of the shopping on it. I like that most neighborhoods don't have HOA fees so I can live my life the way that I want and not have to worry about having my trashcan 3 inches too far to the left or whatever.

Michelle Henderson

The best thing about living in Paulding County is most of the people are caring and helpful. I ignore the percentage that are not.

Mark Kilgore

My car is always sparkling clean.

Weird Story

A woman in New Hampshire was left seriously injured after being mistakenly dumped into the back of a garbage truck and compacted four times during its routine operation.

It is believed that the woman was inside a bin when it was picked up by the truck, leading to a horrifying ordeal.

Dumped into the hopper at the back of the vehicle, she miraculously survived being compacted.

Using a stretcher lowered into the truck via the roof with a crane, firefighters successfully rescued the injured woman.

The woman has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and her exact condition remains unknown.

State News

The stepmother of an 8-year-old girl, who died under suspicious circumstances, has been arrested, according to police reports.

Natiela Barros of Bethlehem is accused of brutally beating the child with a wooden rolling pin, inflicting 10 to 20 blows, and then, shockingly, refusing to seek medical care for her.

The child suffered injuries all over her body, including the top of her neck.

Barros now faces charges of felony murder, malice murder, first-degree cruelty to children, and aggravated assault.

The Gwinnett Police were called to a home on Vine Springs Trace around 2:15 p.m. for a medical emergency, where the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The father returned home to find his daughter unresponsive.

Despite his efforts to perform CPR, the child could not be revived.

The circumstances raised suspicions, leading the officers to contact homicide detectives for a thorough investigation.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
