A high-speed chase occurred when Morgan County Sheriff's deputies and a Madison Police Department officer attempted to stop a Honda CRV driven by Keven Garcia, 21, for speeding at 93 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 20. During the traffic stop, Garcia allegedly accelerated, reaching speeds over 120 mph, almost colliding with law enforcement vehicles. The chase continued into Madison, where Garcia eluded officers. Eventually, a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T) maneuver was used to stop Garcia's vehicle, leading to his arrest. He faces multiple charges, including possession of drugs, a firearm with an altered serial number, and attempting to elude police, along with traffic violations........…….Stay up to date on this developing story at rockdalenewtoncitizen.com.

STORY 2: Rockdale County Sheriff's Office partners with local motorcycle company to honor deputy killed

A three-day event called the "Hustle Up Police Motorcycle Skills Rodeo" will honor Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Deputy Walter Jenkins Jr., who was tragically killed in the line of duty in May 2022. The event, in partnership with Falcons Fury Harley-Davidson, features obstacle courses and competitions taking place from November 3 to 5 in Conyers. It includes elimination rounds, Last Man Standing competitions, and various family-oriented activities, such as a Tribute to Veterans and First Responders, a Kids Zone, and Touch and Truck displays. Story 3: NCSO receives three fully-equipped, GOHS-funded H.E.A.T. vehicles

The Newton County Sheriff's Office H.E.A.T. Unit has received three fully-equipped vehicles funded by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to patrol Newton County's roads. The NCSO, a GOHS grantee since 2017, focuses on innovative programs to improve highway safety, including seatbelt use, preventing distracted driving, enforcing speed limits, and ensuring overall traffic law compliance. The H.E.A.T. vehicles support GOHS goals such as reducing youth alcohol/drug-related incidents, promoting seatbelt and child restraint use, and enhancing overall traffic safety through education, enforcement, and community programs. More information is available on the GOHS website and the NCSO smartphone app.
