Tourism Generates $2.4B Economic Impact in Cobb, Bureau Says
In 2022, tourism in Cobb County generated a $2.4 billion economic impact, marking a 9% increase from the previous year, according to Cobb Travel and Tourism. Of this total, $1.5 billion was a direct impact from visitors, while an additional $900 million came from indirect and induced impacts. The largest economic contributions were from food and beverage, followed by lodging and transportation. Tourism also supported over 18,000 jobs in the county, with the majority directly related to visitor activity. The organization celebrated these achievements at its annual "Meeting and Mixer" event, recognizing various partners and announcing plans to move to a new office space in spring 2024. Award winners included The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, A5 Volleyball's Beast of the Southeast, City of Smyrna’s Food Truck Tuesdays, Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta, Silla Del Toro, and James “Jim” L. Rhoden Jr. of Futren Hospitality. The Cobb Unity Change Maker Award went to Maxine Wilson.
