On Monday, Cherokee County firefighters are investigating a van fire at a Waleska gas station. Responding just before 3:30 p.m. to the Valero station, they found a burning van with flames reaching the canopy and fuel pumps. Firefighters swiftly extinguished the fire, ensuring pump safety. A ladder truck was used to inspect the canopy for damage and hot spots. No injuries were reported, and though gas pumps were temporarily shut down, the store remained open. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
